How it works

A managed mural care network — not an open marketplace.

Great Lakes Mural Conservation coordinates the connection between mural owners and qualified local artists and workers. Projects are reviewed, scoped, and matched — they are not opened up for public bidding.

Our process

Six steps, every project.

The shape stays the same. The scope and pace flex to the mural, the owner, and the network partners involved.

  1. 01

    Mural owner submits a request

Tell us about the mural — location, condition, photos, and what it needs.

  2. 02

    We review the project

Great Lakes Mural Conservation reviews the request and reaches out to scope what's possible.

  3. 03

We document and scope the mural

On-site or remote documentation establishes the mural's condition and the appropriate scope of work.

  4. 04

We match qualified local artists & workers

Vetted project partners from our network are matched to the work — coordinated, not auctioned.

  5. 05

    Work is completed with documentation

Projects are carried out with conservation-minded methods and clear documentation.

  6. 06

    Owner receives care recommendations

We hand back a written record and recommendations for future maintenance.

A managed network, not an open bidding marketplace.

We coordinate projects, vet network partners, and protect everyone's interests — the mural owner, the original artist when known, and the artists and workers doing the care work. Not every applicant is accepted into the network, and not every project is appropriate for every worker.
